RoastMyBudget is intentionally anonymous. The site does not collect personally identifiable information from submitters. Budget posts, comments, and reactions are submitted anonymously, with no account, login, or real-world identity required. We do store what you choose to post, and we use a small amount of browser storage along with ad and analytics cookies to keep the site running and free.

Anything you submit through RoastMyBudget, including budget posts, photos, line items, notes, comments, and reactions, may be displayed publicly to other visitors and indexed by search engines. Treat every submission as public from the moment you tap submit. Do not include details you would not want strangers to see.

• Your anonymous handle(e.g. “BraveBagel-742”), generated in your browser and saved in localStorage. It's the only identifier attached to anything you post or comment.
• Posts you submit: title, optional note, monthly take-home, household size, photo (if you uploaded one), and line items. These are public.
• Photos you uploadare stored on our hosting provider and served with the post. Don't upload anything that includes your real name, address, or account numbers — review the photo before posting.
• Comments and reactions, attached to your anonymous handle.
• Owner tokens (random strings) saved in your browser's localStorage, so you can later delete a post you made.
• Optional contact email: if you choose to enter one when posting, we store it so we can email you when someone roasts you. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't share it.

• Real names, login credentials, or account profiles.
• IP addresses, beyond what is incidentally logged by our hosting provider.
• Anything you don't choose to type, paste, or upload.

We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site under publisher ID pub-3020448902429156. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to RoastMyBudget and other sites on the internet.

Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting https://www.google.com/settings/ads. Users may also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page at http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.aspx.

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure usage of the site, such as page views, traffic sources, and aggregate visitor counts. Google Analytics may set cookies in your browser to support this measurement. We use this data to understand how the site is used and to improve it, not to identify individual visitors.

• Want a new identity? Open the post screen and tap “new handle” — your browser swaps in a fresh one. (Past posts keep their old handle.)
• Want to delete a post you made? Open it from the device you posted from — you have an owner token stored there. Email us if you can't reach the post.
• Clearing your browser's site data wipes your handle, owner tokens, and reaction history.

RoastMyBudget is not directed at children under 13. Don't use it if you are.
